Understanding the Demographics of Aging

The Global Shift

By 2030, an estimated 1.4 billion people will be aged 60 years or over. This demographic shift presents both opportunities and challenges. As older individuals make up more than one-fifth of the total population by 2050, we must address their unique needs and aspirations

The Vulnerabilities

Older people face various vulnerabilities:

  1. Health: Age-related health issues, chronic diseases, and mobility limitations.
  2. Social Isolation: Loneliness due to loss of loved ones or reduced social interactions.
  3. Financial Insecurity: Insufficient pensions, rising healthcare costs, and economic instability.
  4. Discrimination: Ageism perpetuates stereotypes and limits opportunities.
